Mardi Gras from From My Carolina Home

Tuesday is Mardi Gras, and this year I managed to remember it far enough in advance to change my header to Mardi Gras. I have some fun ideas for you today, for your home, and my plans for this year. Let’s start by setting a festive table. Pull out everything you can find around the house in purple, gold and green and mix them up to create a carnival table. This table for two from a couple of years ago could be for breakfast, as we have a Mardi Gras party to attend this year for dinner.

This party ...

It’s Mardi Gras! Baking, Sewing, Tablescapes, and Dinner from From My Carolina Home

As usual, I am close to running out of time, and posting this on the day of Mardi Gras instead of in advance. But, that is how it goes sometimes! Still, you may be able to shop your house for enough gold, green and purple to pull it off. Often I do this at the last minute, LOL!! Since I have done a clean out of my tablescaping stuff, much of what I’ve used in the past is now a memory, so it might be harder to get it together. But I can still bring out some of my ...

Mardi Gras Quilt Today, Hiding On the Back Of This Quilt from Quilts + Color

I needed a wide fabric for the back of this quilt so this was perfect.

It was wide enough so I didn't need to piece it.

I've shared this quilt on the blog before.

Fun with Mardi Gras from From My Carolina Home

Mardi Gras is Tuesday, March 1 this year, just about as late as it can possibly be. Does this mean a late spring too? Perhaps, so we need something bright and cheerful for winter days. It is a good time to do a new table with only what I have on hand. We’ll have some Mardi Gras fun today, and revisit a few past posts with more ideas. My tablescapes have become less elaborate as I concentrate on tables for two. I haven’t had a dinner party in three years, and don’t see myself doing one anytime ...

A Table for Fat Tuesday from From My Carolina Home

It’s Mardi Gras today! The last day of the Carnival season. Of course, this year there hasn’t been much party time, so a festive table will help bring a bit of cheer this week. We are staying home more than ever now, so some color on a rainy day is nice. Gold, green and purple are Mardi Gras colors. I did my previous tables with gold chargers, so this year I pulled out the green ones to build around.

I folded the napkins in a fleur-de-lis fold, held with a green ring. They are really yellow, but the ...

Mardi Gras Fun from From My Carolina Home

Tuesday is Mardi Gras, and I want to show some ideas for making it fun.  So sit back and enjoy some festive tablescapes, quilting projects and good food. The photo below has to be one of my all time favorite tablescapes, with some of my collection of evening purses, coins spilling out with glittery necklaces, purple chargers and my Depression Glass Cameo Ballerina grill plates in green.  See the whole post at Mardi Gras Tablescape.

Mardi Gras food tends to be more Cajun than anything, but I cannot eat celery so it isn’t my favorite.  Still, a seafood meal ...
